Alienware hates Canadians

I will say that I had a slight bit of trouble with them to start with, but now they cannot be more attentive to my problems/emails if they tried, so as far as I am concerned, AW are a decent company that take a load of flak from people who know shit about them and only bash them cuz they think its cool to do so.

I can repect that. I know what you mean about RMA'ing parts too. It can suck. Hell when my main rig went down I just bought another motherboard(same model) so I could get up and running as intel took like a good week and a half to get me a replacement. For some people the peice of mind of having a company to stand behind you is worth a little more. Plus you don't need to worry about building it yourself and going through all the trouble. In the OPs case he pretty much wanted it and got fucked. Yes most people that order from Alienware will never have an issue. He just is one of the unlucky ones.

Talking about the OP. Did you file a chargeback/get your money back yet?

Almost a month now, I have been refunded for the video card they shipped me after I returned the system. It has been 20 days since the returned system arrived at Alienware, every time I call they say 5 to 7 days, but yesterday I called and they didn't see anything about the transaction even being posted, and the rep was going to email the refunds department to see what's up. Today I have called and they have posted the refund transaction less the 15% restocking fee of course.(3 more days until i get some of my money back, hopefully)

I got through to a manager and after hours of debating why I ordered a video card after I returned my system, which i didn't do, they are considering refunding the shipping for the returned video card. I scanned the FedEx receipt and sent it to them, but they claimed they couldn't read it and would not be able to refund the shipping without a legible copy of the receipt. I told them its a PDF just zoom in to read the small print, but apparently they don't do that. So I enlarged the receipt at kinkos and sent that, they are still claiming they cannot read it, apparently they have a bunch of old people with cataracts working there. I called them back and bitched a bit more and they agreed to refund the shipping as well.

So as soon as those transactions are complete i will only be out the cost to ship the system back to them $103.69 and the 15% restocking fee $315.

Although taking $400 of my hard earned cash and putting it in the blender, wasn't in the plan this year. The lesson learned was DON'T BUY STUFF FROM THE STATES. Sorry to every other online USA retailer, you can blame Alienware for the loss of any future business from me.

Really sorry to hear of your experience.

I just finished building a new PC myself, and as I was looking at online retailers, my criterias were:
1- looking for a canadian retailer so I don't have to deal with customs and the sort of crap you had to deal with having a retailer in the US
2- retailer had to have good reviews from the user community

Did my research, went with NCIX.com, and all I can say is that their service and support has been nothing short of outstanding! They're based in Vancouver, and I still get my order the next day if I ship Express to Montreal. Ground takes 4 business days.

NCIX is a great company, I've dealt with them for ages. I'm contemplating whether or not I should go through FNW for my upgrade or simply buy through NCIX again... come upgrade time.

Being in Canada I had to decide whether or not to buy from a US based company or home grown... I'm glad my purchase through FNW was pleasant. I always like Alienware, but feel they have gone the way of tacky as of late. This post purchase service doesn't sound to appetizing either.
