That power cable looks sweet, and I remember seeing it somewhere else through a different mod vendor.. alienware charges $50 + shipping which is rediculous. Im just wondering if anyone knows where else to buy one of these?

btw if you havent figured it out those cables are bullshit... they look pretty, but its not going to make your machine faster ++mhz or more stable or some crap...

well aware.. I use my shuttle for tradeshows however so any added cool factor is beneficial.

personally i would take a regular power cable and a box cutter, cut the outer sleeve down the entire cable and rip it off... then get some sleeve and heatshrink the ends... $50 cable for what $5 max? :D

lol take off the rubber shielding? Im not looking for an electrical fire!

I have contemplated this however, not sure what Im gonna do... dam their cat6 cables look awesome too.

you can cut the outter rubber off a round power cord and if you do it right you would be left with 3 insulated wires black = hot white = neutrral and green = ground. What I always wanted was a cord that had a clear jacket so you can see those colored wires and a clear NEAM 1-15P (Wall) and a clear IEC Connector (Computer). so I can see all of the wires. now I think that would look nicer than that $50 cable

Those clear cat5 cables look nice I want some like that in a power cord

It's 12gauge single conductor or sjo. Some sleeving (get it at frozen CPU) and a levetron 15amp edison plug.

Could be made cheaply...

Hmm....I have some of the above lying arround :D

Take a look at medical cords, they use clear stuff to see if there are breaks anywhere

I've started modding one of my power cables. I'm gonna use this sleeve I've already stripped off the outer heatshrink, it was much easier than expected. I'll post some pics when its completed. Instead of paying $50+ I'm doing it myself for $8. :D

Or, to put in words what our main man Ice Czar is graphically representing, the quote button, much like the search button, is your friend.

Heh yep, thats actually what I use for my box currently, picked it up at the MIT Flea market for like $2.

Features 99.9% Ultra Pure stranded copper

What material comprises the other tenth of a percent?

Is that percentage by weight, or by volume?

However good you think that power cord is; it is crap compared to this http://www.audioadvisor.com/store/p...Reference Power Cord with Built-in Filtration
for that price you cant go wrong.

If you even consider paying that price you've already gone wrong :p
There's really no reason for that kind of thing, it won't do anything for you, except lighten your wallet. If you really wanted to make sure you got clean power to whatever, you could put a narrow bandpass filter on it, but honestly you'd need such messy lines for it to matter that you'd have real problems in the first place.
