For the 10th anniversary of Alien: Isolation, creative director at Creative Assembly Al Hope announced that a sequel to the fan favorite game is currently in development.

Best gaming news all year IMHO. Hard to believe its been 10 years as the first game still looks great today. I just hope the sequel looks and plays as good.

Heck, I'd be fine with a Dead Space like remake tbh.

I should be happy about this news, but it only makes me feel dread. Dread that in the current climate they'll somehow manage to ruin it. How many of the original dev team are still at CA? 10-15%?

I first read the name as AI Hope, and thought this was a hoax.

My version of "Alien: Isolation" was actually "Human: Isolation" - asking the question: "how long can I stay in a storage compartment, before the alien dies of hunger?"

Also, less robot levels please.

This is the main thing. I truly hope the 'sequel' isn't anything like the Aliens sequels, or the Ridley Scott prequels, or anything other than the first movie and Isolation.

I have a soft-spot for the Aliens franchise! I love most of the movies, the AvP games, but it's SO RARE to get a truly terrifying experience as Isolation

about time they started working on a sequel...then again maybe it was best to leave it alone and let it stand the test of time as a great game based off the Alien ip rather than rush out a subpar sequel...I wonder if they'll keep the same sense of survival horror or if they'll try and evolve into more of an action FPS...sort of like the first Ridley Scott Alien movie compared to the James Cameron sequel (Aliens)

I will say - I really loved they nailed the look and feel in the first one, even though I felt it got a bit tiresome at times. But still, really - felt like Alien.

So will this one feel like Aliens?

Typically game sequels do better than the first and there are so many examples supporting this too. That being said, expectations will be high as the first game is on such a high pedestal.

Question 1: should this game have a sequel?

Question 2: should we trust the Creative Assembly of today to make that sequel?

Question 3: can we trust any modern publisher not to fuck up such a sequel?

1. Like I posted before I'm cool with a modern Dead Space like remake though it would need an ending that gives closure to ALIEN fans. But now we're getting a sequel...

2 and 3. I think many are hesitant about a Isolation sequel mainly because ALIEN doesn't have a good track record with sequels in games and movies. ESPECIALLY MOVIES!!

If the second games sucks we won't buy it and just replay the original game instead. Just don't read the IGN review this time 😄

Al Hope was creative director on the original game and he's also directing the sequel.
