Alicia Vikander To Star As Lara Croft In “Tomb Raider”

While Vikander is an Oscar winner, I really don’t see her as the Tomb Raider.

Lara Croft has been found. Alicia Vikander has signed on to star in Tomb Raider for MGM, Warner Bros. and GK Films, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The movie project, which has Roar Uthaug (The Wave) on board to direct, will tell the story of a young and untested Croft fighting to survive her first adventure. MGM and Warner Bros. are co-producing the film, with MGM overseeing production. They acquired the rights from GK Films, which had previously purchased the film rights in 2011 from Square Enix Ltd. Graham King is serving as producer.
 
I guess I'm just the standard male pig. She's too flat chested for me. I don't need Triple -Ds, but she kinda bland. No offense to her of course, I'm sure she's a wonderful person and obviously a talented actress. I'll of course be watching the movie as soon as it's available on Netflix or Amazon Prime

Angelina Jolie did get enhancements (and not the digital kind...) around the same time as the first movie.

She doesn't have a whole lot more going on that Jolie and look what they did with hers. I know that is somewhat part of the Lara Croft persona.
 
Angelina Jolie was a great Lara Croft. Unfortunately, the movies still sucked.

Let's hope they've got a better script and director this time.
 
yeah guess it was just a matter of time before they went from LC looking like a woman to looking like a little girl. We must shield our kids from getting boners!

34a is unacceptable on anyone let alone Lara Croft.

Ex Machina was overrated, and while she was good in that movie, she is way way to waify to be Lara Croft. She needs to hit the weights, hard. And probably grow taller by at least a couple inches. Is she going to play teenage Lara Croft or something?
 
You know who I like? John Goodman. I think his hard hitting portrayal of Linda Tripp on SNL shows he could capture the true sense of this character.

In the new Tomb Raider games Lara isn't particularly tall.

I predict these movies (that's right I bet they're going to make more than one) will be garbage, which is a pretty safe bet because every video game movie ever made has been garbage.
 
I don't know, I've always liked SMB. Mortal Combat and Postal were entertaining.


Though these seem a little small for Lara Croft :)
 
I love looking at Alicia myself, have always been into ballerina babes personally,

Not sure if I'm hyped up about another remake though myself.

I married an Italian myself about 25 years ago on the third try, who tends to be a lot larger in that department though. :)

Italian women like to argue a lot though :(

\/\/0\/\/ a lot of hat on the small boobs, while I prefer bigger don't hate the little ones they are quite titillating and quite fun and very sexy. I do agree however that LC should be a bit more buxom and thought that angelia jolie made a fine LC. I thought Jennifer Love Hewitt would have made a good LC.

You guys are looking at it wrong. This is the youthful, seemingly innocent but actually strong and empowered WOMAN. She's there to grab the young female audience to the action movies (and also the 30 somethings that look back on their misspent youth). They don't need to go after the male crowd, she's hot enough despite the smaller figure, and its an action flick based on a video game, there really isn't a need.

TLDR: marketing demographics

She just does not look like LC. Even with a boob job she would not look like LC. Certainly not the old LC, and not even the new LC games showing a more average athletic body version of LC. Maybe it will be alright. Maybe she will get a boob job into the B or C range, hit the gym, and there are always ways to make her look taller. Just pick short co stars and use those camera angles. ;)
 
Disregarding the boobs (the new Lara is a bit more normal), she doesn't seem overly athletic. Lara is supposed to be a borderline elite athlete with the stuff she pulls.
That's not saying that she can't get in great shape for this role, but I see Lara as more of a Demi Moore in GI Jane kind of thing.
There are plenty of actresses that aren't well known that could likely work better, but most studios won't take a chance with anything attached to a name franchise...except apparently Star Wars.

Ribbing aside- she is smoking hot, and her body is tight. Is she the perfect portrayal/representation of a video game model made to appeal to 15 year old boys? Probably not, but it's impressive what cinema can do these days.
 
Two things are obvious in this thread.

1) most people here haven't played a Tomb Raider game in years
2) guys can be assholes

They changed her design many years ago. Even before the reboot they gave her a smaller (natural) breast size and have kept it that way for all games for the last 5 or more years.

Personally I think she will do well in the role as she has done good in the movies I have seen her in.

I'm obviously a minority but it's a pretty crappy metric to gauge the relevant ability of an actor to portray a role by her bra size. Would you feel comfortable about discussing the size of a man's junk as relevant to his acting ability?
