So the case is closed on this monitor? It definitely has input lag?

I heard good things about the 20" Acer being the same as the viewsonic 2025wm but with glossy screen instead of the viewsonic's anti-glare. I thought perhaps the 24" version might be similarly good.. but did they screw up on their 24" Acer?

Acer AL2416WD 24" LCD

According to some owner reviews, the 24" is a good monitor. Other reviews mention the mouse lag issue being bad. Here are a few excerpts:

------------------------
"Other Thoughts: The bit about the mouse cursor lag is baloney, it can be sped up in Control panel mouse settings.". <---- Is there any truth to this fixing the issue?

-------------
Pros: Great monitor, no ghosting and absoultly huge!!!!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Don't know what the review about mouse input lag is all about. Ive tried this on Call of Duty, Counter Strike Source, Day of Defeat Source, FEAR, and Oblivion and have had no problems.

-----------------------------------
Other Thoughts: I just spoke with a customer service representivie regarding a refund on my purchase. Although the LCD renders 3-D amazingly, the input lag on the mouse (which is an issue many people are complainging about in quite a few other forums) is unnacceptable for fast FPS's. I had informed "the vendor I bought from" that I had spoken with Acer support and one of their reps said there is no fix for the input lag for this LCD. Why this was not advertised is beyond me. They still want to hit me with a 15% restocking fee which means I just wasted XXX dollars in the long run. That is horrible customer service for a first time buyer. I understand paying shipping, but the 15% for an un-fixable issue with this LCD... Simply put, avoid buying any type of large screen LCD if you do any type of FPS gaming.

--------------------------------------------------------
Other Thoughts: There is a known issue with mouse lag on LCD's of this size. If you dig around you can find articles about it. I brushed it off at first however for fast FPS's the mouse 'floats' when you move it, for lack of a better word. It's like a slight delay and innacurate movement as if the sample rate is well below 60. I can hook my 21" CRT back up and it's no longer an issue. This explains the problem myself and the guy before me were experiencing in CS:Source. You've been warned; I have been unable to find a fix that works as of yet. p4 - 2.8Ghz w/ HT 2GB PC3200 memory 256mb x850xt 300gb WD SATA HD @ 7200rpm Why include that? Cause it's not the system that's slowing up the mouse, it's definitely something with the LCD.

-------------
Other Thoughts: After getting the monitor, my mouse gained a slight delay as if mouse acceleration was on low. When i switch out monitors it works like it should. Tried switching out drivers and even reinstalling windows. I also tried out a total of 3 mice on the monitor (510, g5, g7), nothing seems to help. I only noticed this issue when playing counter strike: source because of the exact settings im accustomed to, it threw me off quite a bit. I'm still in the process of trying to get this fixed

You can't fix the input lag with the mouse control panel. The only thing that helps somewhat is turning off VSync but then you'll see some bad tearing.

Thanks for the reply. There seemed to be conflicting reports. I guess some of the big panels have input lag.

I'm considering the Acer 20" instead of the input-lag 24" model to replace my viewsonic 20" now.

I recently purchased the al2416wd. There is definite input lag, particularly when compared next to a crt.

I use the monitor mostly for the web/documents/coding and it works wonderfully for that.

Go for SIPS panels (all Apple/HP models and some Dells). No input lag and better panels overall...
