I just won an Evo 33 on eBay for about £26 (approx $43?) going by CPC's review a few issues ago; quiet, excellent cooling (17 degrees c lower than reference HSF on high mode, 15 below on low) etc etc, but was wondering if anyone else had one and had to lap the CPU contact?

Or, alternatively, going by the pic on here, would it be recommended? It looks pretty smooth tbh, but i can't be sure that's not just polished...

see what temps you are gettting right off the bat and if you don't like it then lap it

righto, good stinking! Incidentally, what cooling compound does the retail AMD hsf come with? Only this is being shipped with arctic silver 5, which i presume is better, so would it matter hugely anyway?

agian, try it out then try the other and see whats better :)

as5 is though (when applied correctly)
