AIX in cloud

    AIX ... not seen for over a decade ... all I remember: smitty

    But was a nice OS

    I have not heard of anybody doing hosted Power. I imagine the price would be significantly higher than hosted x86 because of the huge premium on Power hardware and licensing.

    I've been working with AIX for over 10 years now. Started on version 5.1, running 7.1 now.

    Virtualization on Power is unbelievably complex.

    Thanks . I know AWS can host linux systems. Just wasnt sure if something similar exists with AIX.

    There is a company out there that is trying to get AIX on Power in the cloud. They are called Skytap. I don't know what the prices look like, but they are working on it. We did a proof of concept with them to put our dev environment up on Skytap. I am not sure what the outcome was of that project as I wasn't part of that one. I am more on the Linux/AWS side of things.
