Well I'm stumped. OK first off, here's a full spec listing:

IC7-Max3 - 3 Ghz Prescott - 2x512 Corsair DDR400Pro - AIW9800Pro - Soundblaster Audigy - Plextor PX716-A - 80GB DX9 8mb Cache IDE - 200Gb DX9 8mb Cache SATA- 2x 120mm Case Fans - 1 90mm Fan on the XP-90 - 1 PCI exhaust fan sitting underneath of the video card - All powered by 480W Antec True Blue Powersupply

Now, I've never been able to get ATI's MMC working. It freezes up and then I have to reboot the whole system. I've been able to use ChrisTV without issues though. This is after a 100% clean install of xpsp2. Absolutely zero software except the required components for MMC. Well recently I've been working on my primary video box, and needed to do some quick capturing. So I plug my camcorder into the 1394 port and fire up premier. About 10 minutes into it, I get the black screen w/red text stating that I have not attached the power supply lead directly to the video card. (Yes it is attached). I've got it on it's own dedicated line straight from the power supply. I've also tried unplugging the 2 120's and the 80Gb and Plextor and still get the same issue. I can play UT2004 at 1600x1200 w/full settings for hours, but capturing is an issue.

I really wouldn't think that lack of power is an issue, but I really don't know what else to blame. I have a second AIW9800, it has the same problem, both work fine in other boxes w/350 powersupplies (antec truepowers/running 2.4 northwoods and 1 hdd). Does anyone have any recommendations? I don't have a voltmeter, but I could probably resource one if needed. Thanks for reading.


 
It could be a power supply issue, or a bit defective part. I really don't know. Better wait for more seasoned responses than this.
 
Well I appreciate you reading it anyway. I don't really have another PS around here I want to pull out to check, so I think I'm going to grab a Neo480 at BB tomorrow just to rule it out. I'm certain that 480W is sufficient, but maybe it's neglecting that particular rail (I know crap about ps's). Also, just as a side note, an AIW9600XT works just fine in this system.

 
Morning bump before I go buy another PSU. Anyone have any other ideas? No overclocking is going on at the moment, and my AGP/PCI bus is locked at 66.
 
OK, time to revist. So I went ahead and got a PCP&C 510 Deluxe (I was planning on getting one anyway). Plugged it in, and same problem. Obviously the power supply is not an issue. Anyone have any ideas?
