Hi,

I have a 9600 AIW and I was wondering if there's any mods I can do for it. It has a passive heatsink so obviously something with a fan would be a good place to start, but other than that is there anything that can be done with it? Softmods? OC? What clocks could I expect out of this with stock cooling and with a fan on the heatsink?

Thx for any info.

Questions are all I have...

The card is clocked at 324/195 gpu/mem stock. I don't know enough about it to know what the memory should be rated at but this seems pretty low. I have already overclocked it using atitool to 345/216, but without putting a fan on the heatsink I'm concerned about killing it. It gets pretty hot to the touch during benchmarks, and so far I've gotten it up to 2366 in 3dmark2003 even though it's running on a 1400 mhz tualatin P3 on a 100mhz bus.

Given how the whole system is a bit old but should be sufficient for basic video watching and recording, I'm interested in knowing how much I could push the vid card or if the 9600 is really the same as a faster gpu if it's overclocked or softmodded. I don't even know what kind of heatsink would fit on it so right now I'm just thinking of gluing a quiet 40mm or 60mm fan to the heatsink or making a custom bracket.

Does a rev 3 silencer fit a 9600 pro AIW? I got a rev 3 buried somewhere here on my desk from my dead 9700 pro, mebbe I should toss it on the wife's card?
