There is a lot of talk about airflow, and how to optimize it for thermal purposes. This of course only makes sense.

The circulation of air from the front of the case to the rear is important, however there are many cases with fans blowing on the video card from a side panel fan. My antec case included.

Doesn't this kind of mess with the airflow inside the case?

There are certain cases out that have large fans on the side, like the Armor case that has a 250mm fan and other cases like the Aerocool that has 3 80mm fans on the side. When trying to move fresh air from the front, and through the case, does this not disrupt airflow? I understand the need to cool certain parts of the computer, I guess what i'm getting at is how does a side fan affect airflow within a case?

yea - side panel fans aren't necessarily designed for overall case airflow.

their basically there to force air on certain spots.
