Airflow problems in v1000b??

I think that I'm having some airflow issues with my v1000 mostly becasue the only intake fan is at the bottom in the seperate HDD bay area...there really isnt any sort of air intake at all at the front of the case so I was thinking how best to go about it.

I came across the Scythe Kama Bay:

http://www.coolerguys.com/kamabay.html

and it looks like something that would work well for me. My real qustions are
1. for you v1000 owners have you experienced similar problems with the lack of an intake fan
2. how well would this fit in with the look of the v1000. I know they're both perforated or what have you, but does anyone have a picture perhaps??
Thanks!

You are the first person I have seen to complain about the airflow in a V1000. Is there definitely a problem?

Looks like it fits into the 5.25" bays very tidily, and there is a fair chance that the fan will be very good from Scythe. It looks like a well conceived product for sure.

If you really think the airflow is a problem, perhaps worth thinking about the Lian-Li blower fan that comes on the + model of the 1000 as a good place to start. (fitted on the original Plus version - for a reason I guess)

I am about to pull the trigger and get either a v1000 plusII, or the V1200 plus II which has a side vent fan extra, but think this might be a useful add-on if there really is an issue.

Will be interested to see how you get on. Depends on whether the fan housing is decent looking metal for appearance, but could be an ideal opportunity to ditch the black fan and get a coloured one, and make it a feature.

You could even have it set at the back of the drive bay, it will be covered by the face plates but suck in thorugh the perforated case. Discrete but coll (punn intended)

I had a problem with my v1200, I was watercooling so i needed some air flow for the norh and south bridges. I Solved it by turning the 120mm exhaust fan by the mobo around and installing a 120.3 reservoir on the top blowing out. Everything peachy, i recommend cutting a hole and putting a 120mm fan on the top for exhaust purposes and having both preinstalled 120s blowing in. Worked well for me. :)

yeah, i've seen that a few times but I guess I need to see a picture of how it looks...I'm pretty particular

while were at it anyone have a picture of the silverstone SST-FP52 in a v1000 either?

and now for option C:

rig a 120mm fan with bungi cord (zero vibration)

get the perforated bezel covers

and then turn on the lights

this option stealths in with the Li Li front better than the Scythe, but for simplicity and overall cost the Scythe is hard to beat.

hey where did you get those mesh drive bay covers from??? option C seems to be exactly what I'm looking for

reverse that fan in the back. Did wonders for my temps. Just make sure that the warm psu exhaust air isn't being sucked into the rear fan...

wait so I actually reversed my fan (went from rear intake to rear exhaust) and it did wonders for me becasue otherwise there is no way for all the hot air to escape......right? my proc temps dropped 10c
