Hi All,

I have the Antec Sonata 1 Sonata 2 Pictured and am trying to figure out how to best improve the airflow. Currently the only fan installed is the case exhaust fan. I usually leave the computer running for long periods of time, and the ambient temperature in my room can get pretty warm so I want to move as much air as possible. I would like to add at least 1 intake fan on the side, hopefully 2 but that will require some cutting. I'm a total rookie, so any suggestions from anyone, especially those with this case would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have had the Sonata 1 since it came out, upgraded the hardware in it a few times since it came out. Curently a Q6600 with retails HSF and a 7900GS powered by a seasonic S12. I seem to recall the case coming with some rubber pieces to mount a second 120mm fan in the front behind the hard drive cage but I never got around it.

The stock 120mm fan that came with the case died on me the other year and I replaced it with a nice 120mm running on 7v to keep it quiet.

As you can see I don't run any crazy hardware that kicks off a lot of heat. Also my computer room usually docent get over 80f. I don't run any folding software but the PC stays on 24/7 and gets used a few hours daily with no issues. However I do clean out the filter in the front of the case once a month.

Anyway if your PC really needs better cooling and you wont mind the extra fans the go for it. If your concerned about your hard drive temps the get a 120mm and use the provided rubber pegs to attach it. If you want better cooling for your motherboard, RAM, and Vidcard then take the side cover off and decide where best to place fans in your door.

In my old Antex I had put a 120mm in the door to push more air over my ram and chipset. I used a hole saw to drill out the hole for the fan and use a wire 120mm grill to finish it off.

TGA,

Pretty much the same story here. I just changed the hardware again and am also running the Q6600. I put a Tuniq Tower on the CPU to help that out. So far I haven't gotten around to the front fan either, and I suppose that would be the logical place to start I just could never figure out how to access that area. I am sure that I don't have those rubber pegs anymore either.

Since we seem to be running very similar setups I guess it really isn't an issue for me at this time. Just a little paranoid about heat I suppose.

Thanks for your input.
