So I have the opportunity to expense a pretty decent system that I will use for development as well as for gaming. Let me know if I am missing anything simple like cables and what kind of cooling you think I will need. I do not have any experience OC'ing but would like to try to get these up to E5645's up to the 3.5-3.7GHz range on Air. Any advice on additional cooling and heat sinks for the two E5645's as well as cooling in general is appreciated.
I overbought the PSU in case I want to add 1-2 additional GPU's, it will be used 80% for work and 20% for games.
Total cost from the egg: 5217
1x LIAN LI PC-P80 Black Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case
8x HITACHI Deskstar 7K3000 HDS723020BLA642 (0f12115) 2TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
1x SAPPHIRE 100310SR Radeon HD 6990 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity
1x SILVERSTONE Strider Gold ST1200-G 1200W ATX 12V v2.3 / EPS 12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified 100% Modular, Active PFC Power Supply
1x CORSAIR DOMINATOR 24GB (6 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory with DHX Pro Connector and Airflow ...
1x EVGA Classified SR-2 270-WS-W555-A2 LGA 1366 Intel 5520 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HPTX Intel Motherboard
1x areca ARC-1880i PCI-Express 2.0 x8 SATA / SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) Controller Card
1x Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
2x Intel Xeon E5645 Westmere-EP 2.4GHz LGA 1366 80W Six-Core Server Processor BX80614E5645
If it makes sense to break out the 2TB drives into a separate box for cooling purposes (as well as offer more expandability) what are good options for a RAID (?) case?
