just installed my new WC setup, and im kind of iffy about how i placed my fan. i have the rad mounted up top with the fan and shroud above it. will i get better performance by exhausting air out the top, or pulling air in through the rad?

I dunno but if pull the air thru the rad and INTO the case, u'll be dumping all the heat into the case... IMHO it's not the best idea

With the radiator inside your case there will never be a perfect solution. You will either be cooling the radiator with cool air from outside and blowing inside your case, or you will be cooling your radiator with warm air from inside your case and blowing it out. By blowing the warm air into your case you warm up all the other computer components. By blowing the warm air out you aren't getting the coolest air to cool your radiator. You'll need to pick the least of the 2 evils in your own mind or move the raditor outside the case.

Bio-Hazard: is right, i went with the fans pulling air from the outside to the inside, and to be honest it worked the best that way, at least for me.

this should not even be a question. if you have the rad mounted at the top, with blowholes up top, then have it blowing up and out. if you're sucking air in through the top of your case then you're going to clog your radiator with dust and kill any performance anyway.

i learned that radiators clog up with dust ALOT faster than u think.
just watch ur temps itll tell u when that radiator is clogged

I have mine in a custom box mounted to the top outside of my case. No air is exchanged with the inside of the comp. The box can be easily tilted up to vacuum the heatercore of dust. Heres a crappy pic:
