Air Flow Direction, In or Out?

In. It doesn't matter if ambient air in case is high, but the rad needs the cool air from outside the case

Need to be an intake, mostly because of the previous posters comment, and the fact your PSU should be exhausting air out of the case.

Where are the other fan slots? Is the PSU fan blowing into the case or directly back out?

[edit] Granted it's just a simple loop, I have the rad fan for my Corsair H50 exhausting and notice little difference in temps from intaking. May be different with a 240 setup.

Ok, that is what I was thinking, intake. Other fan slots will be 2 80mm exhuausting from the cpu area. Also another noobie question with the fan on the bottom of the power supply which way does it exhuast the air through the bottom and out the back of the power supply?

Looks to me like you’re going to have some serious positive pressure with what I’m assuming are larger case fans intaking along with the rad fans and 2 80mms doing all the exhausting.

I would log temps with the rad fans intaking and exhausting to see if there’s really some benefit there.

Since it’s HTPC, another thing you want to consider is the noise level. With 2 80 mms doing all the exhaust work, I’d imagine they’ll need to be running full tilt for effective airflow. That’s a lot of db on top of the other fans.

As mentioned, I would just log temps and see how fans you really need as well as whether intake vs exhaust makes a difference for the rads.

Well I am going to have fans tuned down whenever I do not play any games, gaming tuned up. I have had a gaming rig where my fans were near silent si db is not a issue for me. But once I get her built up I will try a couple configs with the fans as mentioned and see how my temps do. thanks.

I have the matx version with stock fans and a stock amd athlon HS.

AMD fan is by far the loudest. Do not hear the 90mm or dual 60mm on the back. My e4850 is at stock 2.5ghz and stock volts and idles at 37c inside a cabinet with only the back cut out. So no fresh air. Haven't really monitored it while playing a movie though.

I assume you are going to be using a matx board so that the rad can take up the space of the bottom 3 slots?
