ok i am sure this has been said plenty of times (although i could not find any posts about it by searching)..

what would happen if you placed a very cold air conditioning unit infront of the intake fan of your comp? just out of curiousity. im guessing since nobody says anything like that, its a silly idea..

i mean, it would drop the temp of the air going into the comp by quite a bit i would think... what would be the effect?

most air conditioners take OUT the moisture before it goes into your house. only way you would need to worry is if you had it off.... might get problems.

The warmer air is the higher its ability to carry moisture.
When you cool air the moisture condenses out. Fortunatly the condensation forms on the coldest thing in its area which is always the Evaporator radiater.
That water that runs out the little pipe outside is said condensation.

Your stuff in the room, being warmer than the air is not going to get moisture on it.
However once your stuff has cooled down (MB etc.), if you switch off the Aircon and fling open the windows you let warm/humid air in which condenses onto cool surfaces.
(See your fridge/freezer - A good scouce of Distilled water is the ice!)

The difference in temp between an airconed room/case and ambiant is not very large however. I would not fling open the windows, but switching of the aircon should not cause a problem for you
