Air conditioned case?

I've seen those on Xoxide but I haven't heard anything about them. I would think that anyone willing to spend $200 on a airconditioned case would be willing to do a decent water cooling setup.
 
I've read that it was a bit loud and didnt cool as much as expected (120W peltier really wouldnt). Also, that the power comsumption was a bit high for the cooling it gave. It isnt like you dont still need the other fans inside, so I am seeing this product as a little out of place. Cool idea, just not good design. The case itself looks fine enough though, just that there are better cooling solutions. And if you can wait, OCZ should be releasing their phase cooling in the not so distant future with as they said more reasonable prices. I would warn against getting that product you list. Anyone actually buy one have otherwise to say?
 
A local shop in my area bought one of these and built it up. This system is very loud and the overall cooling effect seems negligible. The post above is correct. You might as well save a little more and buy a decent watercooling setup.
 
I have one and when the peltier is on the system does get very loud. My 3 year old is currently using it for his system. We don't turn on the cooling part so it is somewhat quiet.
 
Not turning on the peltier kind of defeats the purpose of course, but hey, who wants all that noise either. Thanks for the actual use input, that is what I expected from what I have been hearing.
 
in a dream i had last night, i was going to build an air conditioned case, and also worried about condensation, and how ironic is it that right before i post a thread asking questions about it, a thread is linked from the main page.
Thats my main concern too, condensation, what are the odds of a massive water buildup in the interior of the case, destroying everything i own...

Theoretically it shouldn't condense at all because airconditioning uses dehumidified air anyways. The only condesnastion should occur on the outside of the case because of the contrast in temperatures. As long as air is moving through the case there would be no reason for condesnation to appear on any circuitry.

I can only think that even if this is correct, how can condensation on the outside of the case be acceptable either. And this system really isnt an air conditioner but a peltier system in which the cold side is rather cold and the hot side is rather hot. These polar extremes so close to each other is the cause for concern and in a humid climate would be worth considering. Obviously not saying that the system doesnt work (people use peltiers all the time), but that it could become a cause for concern as well. But I hear ya.
 
it should only apply because the heat is exhausted away from the hot side of the pelt by the heatsink and fan. The majority of the heat is expelled away from the case. The only condensation to speak of would be from the humity in the air against the side of the cooled case. However this is unlikely because the temperature difference would not be at the dew point found in your common house hold.

The benefits of this seem to be too slight anyways because I dont think ambient temperature is oft the problem for a heatsink, so much as it is the ability to evacuate heat away from the heatsink. Though a higher temperature difference would give more room for the heat to go into, it wouldn't help as much as more air exposed to the surface.

Even if somehow the condensation did occur on the outside, how could it possibly matter to have water on the outside of the case :)
