AI Comes after Hollywood

Having seen the "video", almost entirely composed of sub-three-second clips, I have a lot of doubts.

While I've watched the vitriol grow day by day on this forum, Hollywooders aren't quite up against the wall to be punished for rampant wrong-think yet. Yet.

I guarantee you that we will have AI actors completely indistinguishable from the real ones a lot sooner than it achieves 'singularity' ;)
I could see low level actors gone in a couple years. Remember commercials are only 30 seconds long.

It will be a while before they get into feature films and probably tv shows (and honestly, not sure something I'd necessarily want to see), but I can totally see them in commercials.

I think we'll see a bifurcation, kind of like when animated films became a thing. People are going to regard human actors as being "more real" and "better" for a long time. So superhero action movies will be AI-generated because real people can't actually do that and serious films will still be filmed with real people.

The other thing I think is coming is a mass invasion of social media by AI generated influencers. That'll be fun to watch. Fingers crossed that all the "influencers" go down and people just start assuming that all the rage bait is AI generated slop designed to collect clicks.

All kidding aside, if I'm not mistaken vast numbers of walk-on type roles were already CG.

If I'm not mistaken Bruce Willis sold his likeness to allow production companies to make movies "with him" when his mental health was clearly failing. Wonder if SAG has an issue with that level of "AI" ness?

What do you mean by "coming"? We already have plenty of obvious bots on this forum alone, just I guess harvesting interaction data. Reddit is even worse. Text, but still counts as social media.

I will come back in a year and see what all the naysayers have to say then. It's coming. There is a huge demand and interest in it.

I was thinking more along the lines of video stuff. Wasn't really thinking about text.

I'm not surprised. Popularity on social media platforms might be more about a formulaic copycat approach than anything else. If you just did some pattern recognition on what people did on a meta level to get popular, you could probably make a copycat. Social psychologists could probably make a pretty popular bot, too, if paired with the technical knowhow.

Hell there's bots sitting everywhere on Reddit, reposting shit that they found months or years ago to get some extra karma, followed by bots that make random comments and upvote each other so that they have enough karma to post, before upvoting said topics, so that they can "partake" in social interactions. I'm guessing the goal is to try to model how people tend to respond conversationally in order to improve natural language models by wasting your time. We've had a few stupid ones posting on here that just rehash something very vaguely related, that they took verbatim from somewhere else. Lately we've had some more sophisticated ones because they don't just copy verbatim from somewhere else, but they're also pretty obvious because they're bumping topics from more than a month back, and their language uses a bunch of telltale signs.

Dead internet era.

It doesn't seem too far fetched to me. Look at a modern superhero movie - the amount of CG used to create those characters (ie: Hulk or Thanos), it doesn't seem that difficult to fully create the character using AI for speech and movement. Didn't James Earl Jones give his voice to Disney for Vader? I bet a AI-replicating Jones would be a convincing Vader.

Plus I'm sure Studios would love to have that sort of control over their 'actors'.

and amateur / youtube level affair, AI in generals is for the poor, rich like Hollywood can pay for nice humans experts/crafted affair.

AI controleld virtual human for background extra / crowd will continue for a while (started to be really big since that first lord of the ring trilogy I think) and maybe will become more generated like this instead (of generating models that get AI controlled that need to be rendered like Massive has been doing for 20 years), speaking role close to the camera is quite different.

Here are the reasons why AI actors are inevitable. Reason 4 is a biggie, Jared almost killed Subway. So is reason 5, even for Hollywood.

1. They’re highly customizable
The main advantage of AI personas is that they can be generated and tweaked however a brand pleases

2. They ensure consistent branding
In addition to the previous point, digital influencers can be more consistent in aligning their online presence with their partnered brand.

3. They are limitless
Because AI influencers are entirely created by computers, they do not have restrictions, such as schedule conflicts, physical limitations like fatigue or illness, language issues, or geographical barriers

4. They don’t engage in controversies
As Instagram personalities gain fame, they also attract criticism. And most of the time, this leads to them being tangled with online controversies.

5. They are less expensive than human influencers
Traditional social media influencers usually require regular compensation for every promotional content or appearance throughout the length of their contract. An AI won’t require additional expenses—like travel and logistics—for future promotional activities.

Maybe virtual stun doubling will use it for dangerous scene in high budget, but we can imagine it more used to generate the asset and still go through a full rendered for a little while

Until the "agent" or "inventor" wants to use them to take a stance on that person's own stance on a political interest.

studios/producer/CAA type could own them outright, even made in-house.

Here are the reasons why AI actors are inevitable.
While we do care for virtual character in video games, Toy Stories or studio Ghinbli event animals one in Bambi, so I am not closing the door and they are used already in background scene I am not sure it work much for being influence..

Studio could have used popular animated character that are not celebrity voiced all along, I am not sure they did much outside silent role of being on cereal box, people trust/relationship would not necessarily exist to be influenced by an avatar.

And without a little of scandals, that a large part of the game that get away.

Did you not see the list that I posted of the MILLIONS of followers that AI influencers already have?

You are basing your comments on generations that barely understand what Tik Tok is. The generations born with a smart phone in their hands don't seem to care how 'real' the actor is.

Let me know when I can sit down on the couch and tell my AI app, "Create for me to watch right now a completely unique movie that is a blend of styles from Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan. Oh, and I would like Clint Eastwood, Al Pacino, and Jodie Foster to play key characters."

FINALLY a use for AI that I am completely behind and am extremely excited about!
I don’t know how well AI will work for “live action”, but animation, CGI, anything with MoCap, VA work, narration, etc…

This is big news for the Video Game industry, probably the adult industry too….

But yeah.

So can write that screen plan and get you a story board as it is, but not at the full movie experience yet.

I would have a lot of fun watching movies where you change plot points or actor replacements. You could have some really off the wall stuff with that kinda freedom to play. "Star wars a New Hope, but every actor is played by Jack Black" or other ridiculous things. Or in some ways improve it for movies that could have been good but were casted like trash.

Video killed the radio star, AI finished everyone else off.

This is not how influencers work, at least the popular ones. A certain Benjamin Mileikowsky thinks he can spend a bunch of money and watch influencers change the minds of people on the internet. It's wishful thinking that peoples minds are so easily manipulated on the internet.

The bots on Reddit and pretty much any social media platform are trying to sway peoples opinions with sheer numbers. The idea is if 100 people think that jelly should be outside the sandwich then you'll be conditioned to believe that this must be correct. You're basically reading the room and adjusting your opinion based on the general consensus. This does work, but not on the internet. People on the internet seek confirmation bias, and not something to change their minds. One thing the internet is good at is confirmation bias.

Nobody is going to watch them. This is all assuming the average person is so stupid that they can barely open doors. If you want an influencer to be successful then a human has to be behind them. Give them huge tits and hope men stick around long enough to get brainwashed. I guarantee you that a man is puppeteering this female character, and using an AI voice changer. Also, influencers are made to engage in controversies, just the right kind of influence for whatever is paying. If these were made for selling products then we already have ads for that.

I am thinking of chronological freezing myself so that I can witness the tech of the future. The problem is that they have the freezing part down but the unfreezing part doesn't work. The bodies get freezer burn ;)

AI can make VERY REALISTIC BIG TITS!

You are overestimating people's intelligence. There are RIGHT NOW motion capture female avatars on ADULT chat sites with thousands of viewers paying hundreds of dollars to get 'her' naked and see the breasts.

The amount of money spent in the fields of tenticle articulation and jiggle physics for animation is staggering and potentially worrying.

Don't take my word for it....
Here are some of the tenticle work I can find off the top of my head.

People being horny and influenceable are two very different things. Prostitution is the oldest profession and people have been paying for it. Stephen Hawking is a pretty smart guy, and yet he was on Epstein's Island paying god knows how much money to see real tits. Paying hundreds of dollars to see virtual tits seems economical compared to what some smart people have spent.

Because the internet has so many places for people to express themselves, it's foolish to think that enough AI influencers could possibly change peoples minds. Take the whole woke thing as Republicans are running with this because it did win them the election. As a Democrat I even hated the whole woke movement, but Republicans have now taken the word as their platform. Going back to Netanyahu, he was quoted saying "woke reich", as if it's a universal word with negative connotations. That's how you create memes on the internet. We literally have internet rules for this.

These rules haven't aged out of existence.
Wow, that post covered a lot of topics and I am not really sure how it is on topic so I will just post a quote from another user that I agree with.

Director Ridley Scott Says ‘Most Movies Are Sh*t’; Hollywood ‘Drowning in Mediocrity’
The famed Blade Runner director is very pessimistic about the film industry, calling most of what Hollywood is putting out is little else but “mediocrity,” Deadline reported.
“The quantity of movies that are made today, literally globally – millions. Not thousands, millions… and most of it is shit,” he said during an interview at BFI Southbank in London on Sunday. Scott also said many films are “saved” by the superior digital effects available to filmmakers now. But that is true because they don’t have “great thing on paper first.”
When asked what modern films he likes, he replied, “Well, actually, right now, I’m finding mediocrity – we’re drowning in mediocrity. And so what I do – it’s a horrible thing – but I’ve started watching my own movies, and actually they’re pretty good! And also, they don’t age.”
Scott, 87, went on to say that films are so bad, he is now going back and watching his own catalog.
