OK, What the hell
Bought another K9A2 from ebay because mine here was dead, and I put in 4 GX2's and a SATA HDD and 1 stick of RAM (1 Gig) and the 3 core Phenom from lasitterb (sp?). Hooked it all up to a 1000Watt PSU and crossed my fingers as I flipped the switch.

NOTHING!

It wont post. Everything turns on (damn these cards have alot of lights!!) and fans are a blarin' but nothing happens. I cant get to the POST, and my PS2 Keyboard and USB mouse wont power up either

Any ideas? I know Ive done everything right, tried pulling out and swapping cards, ram, even the keyboard lol. I need some help here, kinda pissed that I spent all this money and Ive got 40k sitting on a .. ?? dead ?? mobo, TWICE!
 
Try reset Bios jumper and check jumpers on motherboard.
Memory in different slot and 1 GP in different slot, disconnect fans...
Post what happens..Good Luck.
 
OK, call me noob, but which jumper should I look for and what to do? Before Ive pulled the battery and waited and that was enough anytime before, but didnt work this time

Memory in diff slot, checked that
1 GP in diff slot? if you mean video card then yea, Ive tried that too, even with an old 88
 
im assumeing you have every thing out of the case, hook up your psu and cpu only, no ram, no vid cards, no hd's roms.. nothing else.... see if you get ram post codes... if you do, power off... add in ram... see if you get vid post codes.. this should take the board and ram out of the question.. if you dont get post codes for your ram, or it gives you vid post codes first , then add in a vid card and see if it gives you ram post codes then.. you need to start from the very beginning with every thing on a test bed and see what it is thats doing it.. i have had ps2 keyboards keep a pc from posting ( it wouldnt even make it to the bios screen).
 
Shit, now I've got to find a speaker lol. I got so used to having boards with displays on them... damn me, its just like losing all my floppy drives, I knew I should hold on to that junk

tried without keyboard just for shits and grins, nothing

Have you tried with just a single graphics card installed? If that works (or doesn't) it will narrow down the causes. I have basically the same config, so maybe I can help.
 
Actually... at that point, why not swap out the PSU/CPU? They are the only things left on that list.

OK next thing after all that is different memory. Try 1 stick of older memory in slot 1. Some boards at default don't provide enough voltage to the memory and older 1 stick memory with wider tolerances may get you to the Bios to up it. If slot 1 doesn't work try slot 4, some boards have a glitch...
 
Yeah, to pretty much echo what everyone else is saying, you want to strip it down to only the bare essentials need to get the PC to boot. Take all accessory cards and drives out (just one vid card or on-board if available, one stick of RAM, one HDD, no USB devices plugged in). This will help eliminate any other hardware if it posts after that. Switch RAM sticks just in case if it still fails to POST. If not, then you need to start switching out components to troubleshoot. Starting with the PSU, then mobo. Let us know what you find.
 
I tried ram, only thing left would be CPU but I don't ha e anything spare in am2. Ill mess arou d more tomorrow, sorry I can't seem to get my ppd up, I know I've been talking alot about it, I just have shit for luck

You did swap out the PSU on that, right Vaulter? It was always my understanding that those boards were pretty finicky about the PSU and RAM that were installed.

I'll try a second psu but that one was new, should work tho
I'll put a tx750 that's new in it tonight, gotta finish painting the livingroom today
