I just noticed recently that my SATA was set to IDE instead of AHCI. Is it worth my time to format/reload over this ? I mean from a performance standpoint. If I gain a tiny bit of speed the I will wait until I get Windows 8 but if it is a decent boost then I would do it sooner.
 
If its your system drive then yes you should re-install windows.

If its a non-system drive then you don't need to do anything
