AHCI in a dual boot

k sooo i installed winders xp & vista in IDE mode

and i want to switch them over to ahci using the reg hacks and what not, iam just wondering which order i should do this.

XP is on the primary active partion that contains the boot manager, so would i do the change on vista 1st ,then boot into xp change that, then enable ahci in the bios?

If you're going to change it, change it to RAID. That will give you both RAID+AHCI instead of just AHCI. If you later decide you want to use RAID, you won't have to go through the modifications again.

Some motherboards if you set RAID will only let you run a raid array. Just FYI.

no no, no raid for me.. i already found the hardway what ahci is all about so ill be careful with this

so my assumption above is correct?
i should do it in that order?
