Hey,

I searched and came up with some generic info on the AGR slot.

I recently purchased the MSI neo3-f with the PCI-E and AGR slot. My PCI-E card won't be here for another 5 days or so, but i have the other parts sitting in my room. I was wondering if using a non listed AGP card in the AGR slot would damage the motherboard any. I have an old Geforce 2 Pro 64mb from PNY. No PNY card is listed on their list of approved cards. I'm not really worried about performance, just want to get the system setup.

So, do you think this would damage anything if i try it, and what would limit the card from working?

Thanks alot.

I say try it, if it works it works. They come up with those lists of supported cards because some cards are picky with the voltages, as the AGR slot is in essence a hacked PCI which provide odd voltages.

Ya i checked out their list.
I dont mind frying the video card.. it is just collecting dust anyway. I was more worried about damage to the motherboard. It seems like it has a chance at working since other gf2 cards work. They are all built to similar specs arent they?

I guess i'll try it later and post some results.
