AGP1 mobo, need gpu suggestions

My friend has a M7VIG Pro-D motherboard. He wants to upgrade the graphics card on it so that he can use multiple monitors. It has an AGP1 slot, what is AGP1? and what GPU's can he use. Sorry this thread was started on the fly.

AGP1 is exactly what it says... AGP1.

Considering how painfully old the system is you might as well buy a PCI video card.

There is no "AGP1" slot. The AGP 1.0 specification was an onboard interface (no slot) and the first AGP slots supported 1x/2x. You can run an AGP slot at 1x transfer rate (aka PCI-66 mode), but that's not normal or optimal. There are the fake "AGP Express" slots that are really just PCI slots, but no real AGP slots were "1x" only.

Anyways if your friend has a Biostar M7VIG Pro-D motherboard, it uses the KM266 chipset, which is AGP 2x/4x as Shmuckety pointed out above.
 
In their own documentation it says AGP1. I think that’s what’s confusing in this situation. :)

You don't have to worry about that designation though. It does support 4x.
