Agp X800xl?

I wasn't making an announcement, I was just asking how much they cost.
It's strange.. the AGP version is 50 dollars more than the PCI-E. Will it drop soon, or stay the same?

The Rialto bridge chip accounts for that extra $50.
 
I have just done a bit of research of this "Rialto" bridge chip... does it allow users to use it both in AGP and PCI-E slots? :eek:
Or is this only on the manufacturer level, where they only design one GPU and are able to implement it in both AGP and PCI-E forms?

No. ATi has said that it had to be 2 cards of exactly the same make / model i.e. 2 AGP X800XTs, 2 PCIe X850XT, etc.
 
The X800XL AGP is out, its not a phony launch. It can be had at MSRP, or even a few dollars under. The AIW version is out as well, and just $399 at the normally gouged newegg site.
 
They are advertising the x800xl agp - dvi -vga - tv-out for $500 CAN at compusmart, and should be available in 30 days. I going to wait till they are about 450 CAN or under before picking one up myself.
 
holy shit strange x800xl pci-e only 300-320$ and x800xl agp for 399$ wtf?!
 
supply and demand my friend. more people want the AGP version for a mid range card. This card might be changing my plans of getting a 6800GT if it does actually become offered for a lower price.

still, 399 is a bit high, i thought i heard something like 350, probably the premptery price gougin itll probably normalize around 330-350,

Wouldnt an x800xl agp be quite a lot slower than an x800pro (16 pipe)? Arent the x800xl clocked at 400MHz?
 
Sure a regular x800pro is 12 pipe. But most pro vivo cards can mod to 16 pipes.

Yep, that looks like an ATI x800XL AGP for $349.99. :rolleyes: It was a phony AGP launch. 3 weeks after "shipping" the x800XL AGP is nowhere to be found. Read the link I posted above.
 
I wouldn't be surprised to see AGP versions of the x800xl eventually come down to close to the cost of the PCI-e versions, right now we are just experiencing price gouging.

The rialto bridge chip costs less than 10$ to the board makers, there is a bit of added complexity to the pcb as well in order to incorporate the bridge chip, but overall it isn't costing the board makers 50$ more to make the AGP version, that is why I wouldn't be surprised if in a few months they start selling for a good bit less than the 349$ MSRP.
