What is the proper AGP voltage to run. I have a Abit IC7-G with a Radeon 9800Pro, in the bios I have 1.5, 1.55, 1.6, 1.65, and 1.7. I've never changed the setting, its always stayer at 1.55v. What is the default setting for this, and what are the benefits of overvolting this?
 
1.5 volts is the standard AGP voltage. Overvolting it can stabilize an AGP port which is giving you trouble. If your AGP is causing problems then you can either reduce the speed from 8X to 4X or you can overvolt to try to stabilize it. If your video card is not crashing there is no reason to mess with this.
 
i always run agp at 1.6v, read that tip long ago.

does it help i dunno but such a low boost won't hurt :)
 
I was going to ask this same question but in regards to OC'ing. I've been messing with these voltages just trying to figure out how they effect my artifact detection and card crashing when trying to max out my core, from what I can tell nothing noticable and my temps stay the same as well. Wondering if anyone else had different results.
 
The AGP voltage in the BIOS affects only the signalling voltage and has nothing to do the the GPU or video RAM voltage. Overvolting the signalling voltage can prevent it from getting errors while tranfering data to and from the AGP card. You'd only fiddle with AGP signalling voltage if it has instability problems caused by corruption of data being transfered or if you have to run your AGP slot at beyond 66MHz because you don't have a PCI/AGP lock.
