Ok, right now my motherboard is APG "4x" only. I want to get a new video card, now will a AGP "8x" video card work? I've been told it will, but that was by a guy at Best-Buy... :p
 
I believe it will, if I am not mistaken most 8x boards are actually 4x/8x..... the signaling voltages are the same.....

Yeah. The 8x card will operate like it's a 4x card.

Personally, I didn't notice much difference with an 8x card
when I upgraded my 4x capable motherboard to an 8x capable
motherboard.

But it should work, to answer the question.

Yes, you will be fine and you will not really even notice a difference between 4 and 8.
