AGP/PCI clock speed lock?

Well, my IC7-G Max II seems to disable the 66/33 lock after I pass 300MHz FSB, anything past 300~ and it messes with the hdd.

So I thought, hey, what if I manually set it to something slightly higher... So I set it between 67/34--70/35, and I can now hit 3.72GHz on air cooling out of my 2.4C... but I want to know, is it safe?

anyone running it higher now than it was before?

also, if its unsafe, can someone tell me how I can take it past 300MHz FSB without the AGP/PCI lock going away?
 
I'm pretty sure this is a known issue with all 865/875 boards. I don't think there is any fix for this either. Just keep in mine there is NOTHING with a 300FSB on the horizon for awhile. 865/875 sure as hell wasn't designed for that kind of a load ;)

im about 95% positive that to activate the AGP/PCI lock you do need to set the AGP Bus to 67 .... it really isn't safe overclocking the bus past 67
 
you might get data corruption running at that high of agp/pci. Some harddrives and video cards can handle higher agp/pci than others, but if you're in windows, run some benchmarks and such to see if it's stable, the worst that could happen is you'd have to reinstall windows because of corruption. - so backup your data as well if you want to experiment. The only fix for getting past 300fsb is doing what you just did. and it only really works with IDE drives since SATA only likes 33/66
 
well, my system is just fine with 67/34, so I think I'll run it @ that when I get my new memory
