AGP or PCI-E?

I'm going to be building a new rig pretty soon. Can't really decide whether to get an agp or pci-express card. Either way I'm going to be getting a 6800GT, what do ya'll think, and which brand card should I get? I was thinking maybe the evga version? Thanks
 
I would definitley go PCI-E. There is no point in going AGP any more. The DFI Ultra-D and MSI Neo4 Platinum are the two best boards right now.
 
If your building a new machine, building an AGP rig doesn't make alot of sense unless your obsessed with pinching pennies as the cost can be somewhat higher.

Otherwise I'd say any of the SLi NForce 4 boards are the best way to go. If not Asus has the A8N and Abit has a new NForce 4 PCI-E board if I am not mistaken.

As far as the video card brand, eVGA, BFG, Leadtek, are all good brands. I would simply look for the best deal on a name brand card.
 
With this years games you won't see a perfomance gain from AGP to PCI-E but PCI-E is the future so in order to be ready get a PCI-E.
 
PCI-E would definintely be the way to go, since it is going to be future proof for quite some time. Although there are complaints about PCI-E's latency and excessive uneeded bandwidth, this will all be justified in the near future.
 
Brand new system? Go PCI-E

EVGA and BFG are both good brand.

BFG Has better cooling (Or so Ive heard)
 
pci-e is the future man, thats the way to go :D If you get ago, you're stuck with a 6800 ultra or x850 xt. Not that either is a bad card, but u wont be able to upgrade again, these are the last agp cards being made.

I've never heard complaints about excessive bandwidth from PCI-E. Of course right now it's overkill, and that's a good thing. Leaves room to grow.

There aren't any latency issues that I am aware of that would cause any problems. AGP and PCI-E are equally fast in practical terms. So even if PCI-E had higher latencies the sheer bandwidth would always make up for it.
