im looking to buy a agp gfx card that will run games like bf2,bf2142.doom3,farcry,cod,moh and etc on high settings. my budget is 140. does anyone know if all agp mobos are 4x/8x?

What kind of mobo do you got? What kind of card do you have in it now? For the most part it should be atleast agp4x. Also a 8xagp card Will work in a 4xagp slot..Let us know what kind of mobo you got and we can go from there.

If it's from the last 4 years or so it'll be 8x, don't worry.

And yea, go for the x850Pro. You can unlock it to an XT, and you're in buisness.

x850 on ati side.. or a 6800gs/xt on nvidia side. In my 754 rig I have the xfx 6800xt and its pretty darn impressive for such a cheap card. It looks hella sweet too.

The fastest AGP card would be ATI's X850XTPE or Nvidia's 7800GS. What you don't want to do is to let your cpu, mainboard, ram or HD be your bottleneck. Post your system specs so we can get a better idea, so you are not spending more than you need to be. That being said I just got a new OEM X800XT for $84.00 including shipping from fleabay. I have been looking for awhile and came across it with 5min to go. So I got lucky.

That will probably be ok for your system specs. The 6800 series were good cards this one is a little crippeled with only hlf the pipes of a GT for a little less you could get an open box X850 or 7600gt that would blow either of them away. Again I say this is only my opinion and I think the card you chose will do very well with your system.

i just purchased is their any reviews for this? what games can it run on high?

AMD Athlon XP 2200 @ 1.80ghz
512mb RAM - upgrading to 1.5
60 GB Hardrive @ 5200rpm - upgrading to 200 gb
I have the same one.. It can play just about any game you throw at it right now on high with the exception of Oblivion or GRAW, and no AA. I can play fear, doom3, q4, etc, all on max settings no AA (1280x1024), and it gets around 60fps easily with no lag even in high action areas. You should be happy with it. You can use Riva Tuner and unlock it to 12/5, and it overclocks stable to 450/1250 pretty easily.

I also got this xfx x6800xt agp, and cannot be unlocked to 12/5. It goes back to 8/4 active.
it's made from the pcie chip with bridge. Anybody got it right?

Show me the customize screen, and you''ll see you are still active 8/4 on top. No go.

Not to rain on your parade but hours ago you asked what card to get and then you come back saying you already bought this card when most people were steering you towards other cards. If its already shipped you might as well make the best of it. However, in hindsight you would have been quite a bit better off with that x850pro

Def means default.. wrong? I thought "cur" means current running, and "tgt" was your target settings.

Cause, when I change back and forth between 8/4 and 12/5, I get at least a 15fps boost/drop in frame rates in Q4 when I change the setting.

Do you have the NV41 revision A2 core? Also, your pu1 and vu4 are in disabled state. How is this possible?

I dunno, maybe riva tuner doesn't report it right or something. All I know is when I do the 12/5 setting, it makes a pretty significant and noticable difference in gameplay with a nice fps boost. I'll download an updated riva tuner and try again tomorrow. I have to get up early for college. g'nite.

Alright.. got an updated version of Riva Tuner. I installed RivaTuner 2.0 RC16 which I'm
assuming is the latest version because thats all I can find. It looks to be reporting it correctly
now I think.. For my core revision on the main screen it says NV42 A1. Card is the XFX
6800xt model PV-TK42-UDE3 according to the box. (256MB DDR3)

I guess that card isn't too bad.
I was planning on getting an ATI X850XT from the egg a few months ago when they had it for $239 but it was out of stock right when I was about to order.
I was then going to get an eVGA 6800GS CO, then that one went out of stock.
So, here I am with my 6800 already sold and paid for, and I can't find a good card under $300 and me being the nice guy that I am, and don't want to mess up my rep selling stuff here, and since the buyer agreed to allow me to keep my card until the new one arrived which would be about 3-4 days after he paid, I was forced to get my eVGA 7800GS CO Superclocked for $318.

the X850XT was in stock at newegg a couple of months later and my brother bought one.
Beats my 7800GS in pretty much every catagory. :(

Don't wanna thread jack this but did you even consider the 7600GT before you got the 7800GS? I know its often OOS but our two cards perform about on par with each other only I paid like $17X for mine

That wasn't out at the time. I got my 7800GS in April of this year.
