Just curious as I'm going to upgrade a rig soon (parents lol, make great for a few more points) as to what are my options for AGP slot folding?

I have two AGP HD3850 cards by Sapphire. They produce anywhere between 1500-2500 PPD (overclocked) depending on the WU and other hardware. There are also some AGP 4650s but read that they don't perform any better and might be worse than the 3850. There exists an AGP HD 3870 but it's extremely rare and pricey. If you have any questions, post them in this thread and I'll try to reply.

Yeah, unfortunately nVidia nixed AGP on their cards after the 7000 series, so there's no CUDA equipped AGP cards to fold with.

I would say the 4670 would probably be the fastest AGP card available. I would think it'd be just as fast as the 3870, if not faster. Don't know if you want to spend over $100 on this though.

Tell them their mobo is about go (out the window), upgrade with parts from FS sub forum or Ebay, total upgrade with RAM, MOBO, CPU and 8800GS/9600GSO should not be over $130

XFX 4650, as it's decently priced, and will not need an extra power connector. (lifetime warranty, too).
EDIT: oops, silly me. Any AGP card of late will need that 6pin...
Fry's sells the AGP version.

The 4650 can also convert video, so can more easily justify it to your parents.

Also, the fan doesn't sound like a buzzsaw :)

I may have to get a new board, don't want to, especially since I think I just lost my 4 card folder...

It all boils down to how much you really want to spend. The 4000-series cards are the best performance in AGP we'll ever likely to see. These cards will probably produce anywhere between 2000-3000 PPD and possibly more depending on WU.

I would also suggest looking for AGP cards on the classified sites or FS forums. It's how I found my second 3850. They're much cheaper used than new. You shouldn't spend on a card with old technology the amount of money a new card might cost because the performance per dollar would be disproportionate. Since the system is old, find an older card with decent performance and low price.

What happened to your quad slotter?

Mobo is throwing an error before I even post, see my thread if you want to help. It's keep g me down 22k points :(

what mobo? i have read that the nforce4 mobo's go nuts with the 3850/4650 agp cards. some ppl have no issues but many do. intel chipsets seem to be the best bet. also, play with the 4x/8x settings.

No, it's a 680i LT LanParty, tried to fire it up wait a Q 66 2 gigs ram and 3 of 4 8800gt 's and it won't post, just shows 88 on the board display thing

Tried swapping out differant sets of 88's to see if it's a card but no luck yet

Can you floppy disc force a new BIOS onto it? (because it seems to be a BIOS issue, based off of the newer Phoenix error code guide).
If not, I have a USB floppy drive I can mail to you (after your box comes...) for free, I just need a shipping box.

I've got a floppy if you got some insight on how to do it. I can't even post, so noclue what to do

Also, heavily recommend you to just use just 1 gfx card (or mobo integrated, I cannot tell from the pictures, but I believe the 600 chipset doesn't have a mGPU, so...) while doing this.

I will try that when I get off tonight, actually in the morni g rather
Thanks for the link, hope it works!
