Agp 8x?

I have a GeForce FX 5600 256 MB graphics card that is capable of 8X AGP. My motherboard, on the other hand, is apparently only compatible with 4X AGP modes and lower. I have two questions about this:

1) Is there any noticeable difference between 4X and 8X AGP with modern games like Unreal Tournament 2004?

2) Is there any way to upgrade my motherboard's AGP capabilities, or will I have to scrap this one and buy a new one?

Thank you and have a good day.

no difference between 8X and 4X for game preformance, ESPECIALLY on a 5600.

you cant upgrade a mobo that doesnt already support 8x, but you wouldnt want to anyway; with modern cards, its just a gimmick, they dont even use all of 4x YET
