How much performance would I lose by not upgrading to a 8x AGP bus?
Is their a reason to upgrade to an 8x AGP motherboard if I would be using all the same parts, and yes the video card is able to run in AGP 8x mode.

All the test I have read shown a 0 to ~3% difference between 4x and 8x AGP :)
It's sound cool, for marketing though.."8xAGP"...oO(must be twice as fast a 4xAGP....not! ;) )

1-2FPS, maybe. Most games will run fine on AGP 2X and it's safe to say AGP 4X is overkill for today's most demanding games and 8X is just pointless. Similarly, PCI-Express offers no performance advantage.

At the moment. PCIE removes a lot of the bus problems of the PCI bus so it has a lot of potential. Right now there is no performance benefit and I doubt that we will see any real performance until at least one or two more generations of video cards and at least one more generation of CPU/chipsets. Or something like that. ;)
