What is it with people in the USA and complaining about prices when they have it cheaper than most people?Ageia need to lower their price card the card, get more game developers to support their tech, and actually show that there is a worth while FPS increase.
Kinda feel that Ageia and the Killer Inc guys are in the same boat. Too expensive of a product for very little gain.
I say $50 is the sweet spot.

PPU is $180+ in the UK, how can you possibly complain about <$120? Ageia would go bankrupt at $50.
Speak for yourself; if ‘you’ personally have a problem with the PPU say so and explain yourself, don’t justify your personal stance by taking it upon yourself to speak on everyone else’s behalf. Obviously there ‘are’ people who give a shit; enough people to keep Ageia in business this long and for a supporting community to form, people who prefer the idea of dedicated solutions over hybrid graphics cards and multi core processors.[snip]
This isn’t as simple as getting the market to accept the GPU, a game that utilises a PPU for advanced physics affects cannot scale down detail like a GPU does with graphics, making it unplayable for none PPU users. With graphics they can change it if you don’t have a GPU and have no affect on the game outside of appearance. It's not about price. It's about value. The Physx either needs more software support or a cheaper price to be worth buying.

Ageia did not get bought up, as much as I am sure this bothers you it is a reality you’re going to have to deal with.

I bet the investors would like to have a way out though, and wouldn't be surprised if there really is a sale to a 3rd party in the future.Ageia Technologies Denies Its Takeover by Third-Party.

Currently Ageia is owned by a group of investors, including Apex Venture Partners, BA Venture Partners, HIG Ventures, Granite Global Ventures, CID Equity Partners, and VentureTech Alliance. Typically such companies are interested in either selling their startups to others, or making them public. However, this time Ageia denies any ownership change.
We have no information about [the acquisition of Ageia]. There have been no changes [in the structure of investors]. As you know this kind of rumors pops up from time to time said Dan Forster, a spokesperson for Ageia Technologies.

It is not going to be a PPU on a graphics card, Nvidia is just going to push the same unsupported solution they whipped up when Ageia first released the PPU.I'm not surprised, but I see this as a good thing. PPU on the graphics card would certainly increase the number of people with it in their systems, so if this all pans out we'll have the kind of physics as shown on Ageia's tech demos.

The purchase was most likely a kill purchase like with Intel and Havok, plus getting all those parallel processor physics trained staff is a added bonus.
Has Kyle commented on this yet? I've kind of been waiting to hear his thoughts on this given his initial stand and all....
It is amazing how something as small as a name can impact a product. In the time I have been in active discussion on the PPU; one of the things that kept appearing was people who had no knowledge on any of the available solutions siding with Havok/Nvidia, simply because the names are familiar.Well it's NVIDIA now, not AGEIA...so it's gotta be good...right?![]()

Two years ago, who was Ageia? Most people still see them as cons trying to force a unneeded product on consumers, they were new and hence untrustworthy. Now Nvidia will be using the PhysX API for GPU physics, I imagine public image of the engine is going change radically.
