I know galaxy, gigabyte, msi, etc put custom coolers on their cards, but I couldn't find anywhere to buy just the coolers themselves. From looking around it doesn't look like there is much offering in the aftermarket GPU cooling realm other than what you get on your card when you purchase it. I know of artic's cooler, but I would like to see some better cooling on the VRM.

Do you think any other offerings will become available for the r290 line?

not out yet.

rumor is 290x later this month, 290 december

usually $20 over MSRP

edit: woops, you mean only the coolers themselves. my bad.

Accellero III is really the ony one around right now. There are very few companies that make Air Coolers, most of them are water blacks.

The accelero III is like $75 i think, but there is some interfacing issues with the fan controller right now. They will probobly come out with some kind of adapter for it eventually.

Yeah I saw that. I want my new card to last a long time, but sheesh, water cooling is expensive.

does the noise bother you?

dont forget, its not just purchasing the cooler, you'll need ot be handy with disassembly, tim application and reassembly.

I haven't gotten the card in yet. I am just thinking of its long term life at high temperatures. I am not afraid to apply TIM.

Another option is the Gelid ICY Vision R2 cooler. Supposedly it performs very well on the 290's and can be purchased for around $50 or so.
