hi guys I am after some new RAM and was considering Kingston, Corsair or OCZ. I am after 1gig in dual channel kit form and will be overclocking my 2.8C P4 on my Abit IC7-MAX3 mobo, but on air not water.

What would you recommend?

kingstons hyperx is good, as is corsair, id recomend you to not get ocz however, overpriced, and crap from what ive seen when i used it

ok and i will be cooling with air so i wont be hitting insane speeds, perhaps 240 FSB, maybe a little more if i am lucky....will XMS4000 stuff be ok for that?

dont get kingston hyperx (unless you KNOWJ it's a BH-5, which is really rare now) because the new ones use CH-5 chips (like mine) and blow at overclocking. they can do about 5MHZ more than they're rated. literally! i've been all over the abit forums too about these chips, they suck.

in other news, my P4 2.8 goes up to 3.5ghz (or thats what i know so far), so running PC4000 at a 1:1 ratio would be perfect. get some PC4000 ram, i dont know what brand to suggest though. i would like to know also.

now that i think about it, if i got ot PC4000 i wouldnt need to OC anymore, so just about any brand would work. the chips at that point are pretty much maxed out already. (even kingston hyperx's would work).

if you wanna try pushing even harder, get some PC4200... or i dont even know what the highest rated ram they have now is :)

yeah pc4000 is rated for 500mhz, so you should be ok there

zeezz's, when did it change from BH-5 to the other type?

hmm, it changed 2-3 months ago. i rmeember because my friend and i were both building rigs, and we read all the reviews and loved the price so we bought the same ram. then we got owned :( haha. not kingstons fault though.

the CH-5 chips i think are designated with a A.01 revision i think.

what i meant was i dont suffer and backlash if i DONT run the ram at DDR500 speeds will i?

ie it will run run fine anywhere between 200 and 250, perhaps even higher right?
