Aerohive VLAN Configuration

I have about 20 Aerohive access points that are setup to cover our school. They work fine for our main vlan.

I am trying to configure a student SSID that will use a seperate DHCP server which is on a seperate VLAN. From what I understand I need to configure the port on our switch (HP E5412) so that it is a trunk port setup to carry the VLAN tagging.

I enable the trunk port for an access point - it seems to have activity but the events on the switch are stating "port c24 blocked by lacp"

I try to configure it as a non lacp port and it tells me "inconsistent trunk type"

I'm a bit over my head here on VLANS so if someone could shed some light on this. Basically the Aerohive can be assigned the VLAN tag to coincide with the switch tag but the switch is not seeing the incoming tags.

LACP is not trunking, lacp is used for teaming or bonding interfaces.

LACP is link aggregation. For trunking you are going to want 802.1q. You will want to set trunking on any port that has multiple VLANs passing through it.
