What do you do when your drone is too big and fat to fit through small openings? You design yourself an Aerial Robot DRAGON.. DRAGON stands for Dual-Rotor embedded multilink Robot with the Ability of multi-deGree-of-freedom aerial transformatiON. Duh. Not as smart as you think you are. And I bet you thought that putting bars on your windows would keep killer robots out of your house? Guess these yahoos have not heard of chicken wire. Chicken wire is the ultimate killer robot stopping tool. We invested heavily years ago.

There’s more potential here than just fitting through small spaces, though: The researchers conceptualize this robot as a sort of overactuated flying arm that can both form new shapes and use those shapes to interact with the world around it by manipulating objects. Eventually, DRAGON will wiggle through the air with as many as 12 interlinked modules, and it’ll use its two ends to pick up objects like a two-fingered gripper. And we can imagine DRAGON wrapping itself around stuff to move it, or using direct contact with the environment to do other exciting things.
 
Not very nimble for a robotic quetzalcoatl, but fair enough. Thankfully while they are dinking around with navigation I can get my bucket of water and pocket sand to disable it.
 
im waiting for some really small and nimble drones to be used to help explore hard to explore places like inside the great pyramid and the small shafts.. and the like. could be interesting things hidden away
 
This should make for even more impressive Intel half-time shows while they search for an actual use for it.
 
Lack of fire breathing makes it a fail. Add that and it'll be a win for robots!
 
If the walls were actually walls, those ducted fans would have caused chaos. It hard to tell in the video, but they are displacing a metric butt load of air. That jerky procession would have turned into Elaine at her Prom.

But still cool, until it's chasing me through the woods.
