AEP Northwoods

Don't think so. In fact I have never heard anything before about them. I try and stay up on all the latest Intel stuff as well.

you can already buy AEP northies, they are the ones with 30 caps on the underside, not all AEPs use low volts though. the difference between a D1 stepping chip and a D1 AEP is that the AEP has two more metal layers in its construction like the gallatin chips do.

i just leaned about them recently linky I was just wondering about those two specific steppings because Intel said they will exist (PCN), but those steppings arent in the database meaning they arent being sold at the moment.
edit: I'm assuming the SL78X and SL78Y will be lower voltage because the next one (SL78Z which is out now) runs at those voltages.

Rabid : all i can say is we have to wait for them to hit the shelves, although if you go back to the intel forum on the same board you will see someone has a sl7 3.4 and they aren't doing very well. But i am not giving up until i see some 3.0's and what they clock at. I might have to buy a new pc if these things are able to hit 4.5 under vapo/prom.

my dream setup...

3.0@4.5 5/4 mem 1 gig bh5 @ 240

ahhhhhh, that would be nice

sl7....not doing well???? i think i'm gonna cry
seriously, i'm too discouraged by my 250 mhz 2.4C oc to buy just ANY northwood. SL6WUs seem nice, though i really don't want to spend 220 for a chip if i can help it (i NEED a next gen video card)
