I got an infraction for telling someone that they probably couldn't get the item they want for 30$ (which is what they wanted) because I sold mine recently on eBay for 60$.

I was told that no one cares what I sold on eBay and that I should keep my comments to myself.

Not trying to get flamed or anything, just wondering why what I did was wrong.

Pretty simple. Its a WTB thread, not an advice thread and the OP probably reported for thread crapping. He didnt ask for your advice..

Ive been infracted for the same thing..this is why I say this..

exactly this......The person was looking to buy an item, they were not looking for advice on what they should pay for said item.
In the future if you really feel the need to offer unsolicited advice, do it through PM .

You think the OP is the one who reported me?

If I posted a WTB thread and someone informed me that my price is 1/2 what the item I want is going for, I would be glad to know it.

Just seemed to me like the neighborly thing to do..

Well, the guy was asking for "the largest HDD he could get for 30-40$. preferably 1TB."

So, I thought I would just let know that the largest he could get was likely not going to be 1TB.

That's all. I wasn't trying to thread crap.

I got kicked out of the soapbox for suggesting that a member might not want to advertise his penchant for saving in physical precious metals on the internet, just as you, I thought it was the neighborly thing to do, my appeal did not even get a response.

Mods are mods, it is not the place of the little people to question.
