I just fixed my computer and I am very happy about that because it is good enough to last me a few years now. The only thing I need to get it to that level though is a good video card. I am a college student so I "study" (by playing computer games) a lot and need a good gaming card for that. I will be working during summertime so money isnt really an issue, but the card will have to be a single slot because I have a shuttle (ST61G4 and more specs in url in sig)

So the way I see it I have a few options:

I have pretty much decieded on an X800XT AIW because they are cheaper than normal X800XT and are pretty much the best AGP card you can get right now (besides x850 which IMO isnt worth the extra 100 dollars and 6800Ultra, but they are both dual slot anyway (except for asus one but asus is yuck)).

1- Buy an x800xt aiw now while there is a $50 rebate.
2- wait until end of summer when new cards come out and prices on current cards drop (hopefully) and then either buy a new generation card agp variant, or get now-lower-priced x800xt aiw.
3- Wait even longer til like after thanksgiving day sale and get a card that goes on sale for insanely cheap then.

so wot's uhh the deal?
what should i do?

Depends on what your running right now. If it's a FX5200 then I'd say end your suffering and get the X800XT. If your running a >9800pro then I'd wait and check my options later on when things start to get interesting.

Link in his sig shows he has a 5200.. id get a x800xt and be happy for a while, i know how bad 5200's are.. walmart even sells them haha

yeah lol

but you know i DO find that it runs counter-strike 1.6 (@800x600 looks ugly) at 100 fps until smoke happens, but i am very hesistant to buy hl2/cs:s because i know it will be dismal.

i really wish i had bought that x800xt from amazon for $278... :(

btw as you can see in that link i am running on a 17" lcd with native res of 1280x1024 so that would be my max res in games probably.

You have a very decent system with the shittiest video card e-v-e-r. Definitly get the X800XT. The new cards will be most likely price gouged and hard to get. Wait until they refresh the next generation so they get out all the kinks and become more reliable. So go and buy that X800XT before the rebate goes away.

Another option might be to grab a 9800 pro for now, and upgrade to the next gens later. However, if you grab an x800xt AIW or not, it should last you a couple of years at least.

Just get the X800XT and be done with it :). You should be fine for probably a year and a half or more (especially if you're used to the FX5200  ).
