I am going to get an SN95G5V3, and have two questions:

1.) Which Socket 939 CPU at Newegg (or anywhere else) would be the current "best bang-for-the-buck"? Would that be the Venice 3000+ ???
Sorry to have to ask, but there are a lot of AMD CPU's right now and it gets a little confusing!!

2.) I have two 512MB HyperX DDR 500MHz (PC4000) sticks from another system.
I know that the timings are very slow with some settings and this RAM. Would this be appropriate RAM to use with the SN95G5V3, or should I get different memory?

Please advise.

the 3000 is a nice choice. as always, if your pocket book allows, get better/go higher. the ram will work and falls into the same catagory as the cpu ;). just ensure you're reeking the benifits of the duel channel

Well, just mainly wanted to know if that HyperX RAM was foolish to use, or would perform decently? Yes, I have (2) 512MB modules, so I would be using dual-channel.

I can afford a slightly faster CPU, and faster memory, but don't have a ton of money. So, what would you recommend for CPU and memory for this SFF system??

I think you're fine with that memory, considering the fact that you won't really be doing any very hardcore overclocking, you should be fine.

Also, what video card are you getting?
 
I have a Saphire Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB. That's the main reason that I didn't want to "depart from AGP" just yet, and one of the main reasons for settling on the SN95G5V3.

So, as for CPU, what would you consider a great CPU deal right now? Is the Venice 3000+ the way to go. Again, I can spend a little more if it is worthwhile.

as prices vary...

the 3200 is roughly $70 more so the 3000 is probably the best deal. too bad you cannot get into a better gpu though, at least a 6600GT. the sn95 is a wicked gaming rig. agp will be kicking butt for good time still

I usually have cash to burn or charge and I've been stagnant in my parts buying for awhile with the sn95 setup. still very impressed
 
Would a San Diego 3700+ be worth the extra money over a Venice 3000+ right now ???

I would be interested in having available multi-tasking power. I have read mixed reviews on the Athlon 64's capability in this regard, some saying that the P4 Hyper-Threading is better for this.

Please advise.
