I've got an ATI X1950 Pro 512MB. It was a good standby card. I want to upgrade it with a reasonable amount of cash given that the new lines are coming out in a few months.

I want to be able to play games like Call of Duty 4 at my LCD's native resolution (1680x1050) with everything turned on and frame rates that don't dip below 60 FPS. I'll be playing alot of other 3D games like HL2, Crysis and so forth.

I'd like to keep the cost between $150 and $240 Canadian. I have no interest in ever doing SLI/Crossfire.

From what I've read, the ATI 3870 512MB isn't going to give me the performance I want reliably.

That leaves me with Nvidia cards. Now, the 8800GT cards seem pretty good. The 8800GTS cards seem to be the sweet spot but I can't find anyone who is selling one for $240 or less. Maybe a 9600GT will suffice for now?

I'm using Vista Home Premium, 64-bit.

Any recommendations?
