Advice on new build

**BTW, sorry if this isn't the right forum***

going to be doing a new build in earl 2012. I have never built my own, so i was hoping someone could tell me if this combo i have listed out so far is compatible, as well as desirable (not sure on things such as fans and power supplies.

I'm certain i want a 580 no sli at the moment. I'm also certain i want intel i7. I'll reuse my SoundBlaster card for now or just use the on-board included with the MB. (Old pc will be new Media PC).

Might want to move this post over to the General Hardware forum - you'll probably get more responses over there.

I will say that the only difference between the -V and the -V Pro is that the Pro adds 2 extra SATA 6GB ports (on a Marvell controller) and 1394 Firewire support - so unless you need those two things you can save money by just getting the vanilla -V, it is otherwise the same as the Pro.
 
Also, if you're going to get the GTX 580, keep in mind that the Rosewill Challenger case might not have enough room for even a single GTX 580: That case has all of its expansion slots permanently restricted in length. IMHO the Rosewill Challenger case can only accommodate graphics cards shorter than 10.5 inches comfortably, while all GTX 580s are at least 11 inches long. I tried this on a friend's PC with that exact same case, and a GTX 580 is a very tight squeeze inside that case (the front end of that card is pinned firmly against the case's fixed, nonremovable drive cage.) For best reliability you want to leave at least one inch of room between the front edge of the card and any obstructions from the case.
