I am about to get a new laptop. MOney is in teh bank and it is 'company' money to so I can spend as much (within reason) as I want.

Now I am wanting a decent card for it as I am Graphics card hungry visual software for it. (http://r4.rabidhamster.org for those that are interested)

Now my desktop machine 1.4Ghz and a GF4 Ti4200 64Mb ok. I want the same level of performance on a laptop. I prefer Nvidia cards as what we have written is all OpnGL and we have had major project with ATi cards for pbuffer and multitexture support.

So teh question is what equilvant speed of card is for me

An FX5200 I imagine will be too slow as it is just a glorified MX card I have been informed.

But what about a FX5600?

Any idea how that compares to a GF4 Ti4200?

Also does anyone know if Detonator drivers work on onboard lappy cards now or is it all OEM drivers like I remember (not had a laptop for like 5 years)

Any hope will be much appricated.

Cheers,

John
