Hi guys. I wasn't sure if it's appropriate to post in this subforum or the Displays subforum but I needed feedback on this. I currently have a PC with i7-6700k and Dual 1070 SLI. I also bought a 27" BenQ BL2711U 4K monitor from Best Buy as well as the 32" HP Omen 1440p monitor from Costco.

I've only tried to use the 27" 4k Benq monitor to get the most out of the SLI 1070 GPUs. At first I was worried that 27" might be too small for 4k but I had no problem viewing text. The BenQ BL2711U looked good and I was hoping that the 4k monitor would work out, but I couldn't get past the dead pixel and the pretty bad back light bleed. I'm not sure what Best Buy's policy for exchange is but I will try to call in and do an exchange for the monitor on Monday. If they give too much hassle then I'll just return the thing.

Then there's the other huge 32" 1440p monitor that's waiting for me to open. I know Costco's return policy is out of this world and if there's any problem I know it would be taken care of. The thing that's bugging me is if the 1440p monitor has no defects, would it be a waste to run a 1440p monitor with a dual 1070 GPU setup? The HP Omen ideally only goes up to 60Hz on Nvidia GPU so it's not like I would be able to get extra Hz with the SLI. Should I just keep trying to get another 4k monitor to maximize my hardware?

What would you do?

I own an identical setup - 6700k + 1070 SLI. I'm also the owner of a 30" 1600p monitor and the pixel density is just fine. For the most part, a single 1070 is plenty up to the job of driving 1600p, and SLI is actually a bunch of trouble sometimes between not working in some games, bad scaling in others, and flat out bugs that it introduces. I only have SLI because I got the second 1070 for free and had nothing else to do with it.

I wouldn't worry about driving 4K until the next generation of GPUs when you can do it comfortably with just one card, because with the 1070 SLI setup its probable you'll be "fighting" to get 4K to run correctly for the entire life of the system. 1440p won't have this problem.

Thanks sinisterDei for the reply. Best Buy is sending me a replacement BenQ. Hopefully it will work out. Otherwise I'll just be forced to give the HP Omen a try.
