Advice needed for portable gaming build.

1. What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming, Photoshop (or other intensive programs), Web browsing, strictly HTPC/Playback, etc.

Aside from general PC use being able to game while recording is the main factor

2. Will you be overclocking? (If so, are you looking to watercool?)

Perhaps a mild OC but nothing extreme - considering a 6600k/6700k with a 140mm closed loop AIO for the cpu

3. What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included in this budget? Is your budget flexible? Is cost a driving factor in component selection?

Budget is a flexible ~$1200USD, cost isn't that much of an issue and can be stretched

4. Where do you live?

Australia, have a good handle on where to go for the cheapest local parts

5. What exact parts do you need for that budget?

CPU + cooler, mobo, ram, 1xM.2 SSD, case, powersupply, gpu

6. If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing?

Basically everything that plugs into the back panel - monitor, speakers, external harddrive, keyboard and mouse, gamepad, etc and a 500GB ssd. GPU (270x) will be reused for a short time until the RX 480 is released.

7. What specific features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Thunderbolt? Crossfire or SLI support? How many USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s? etc.

M.2, at least 4 usb 3.0 slots, built in wifi - the ASUS Z170i looks like it will do the job

8. What resolution output do you need?

Just 1080p for the time being and will be using a Rift every now and then.

9. Does this system need to fit into a particular space and do you need an optical drive?

No real space restrictions and no optical drive needed

10. How comfortable are you with custom case design/modification and electrical wiring?

Moderately comfortable with a dremel and soldering iron, am willing to shorten PSU cables if needed although if i can get everything off the shelf i'm happy to do so.

11. How important is the noise/silence of this system?

Noise not an issue for gaming :)

12. How mobile does this system need to be?

Mobility is by far the biggest factor - the system will be carted between my girlfriend's place and mine frequently so that's why i'm looking for SFF to begin with.

13. Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?

64bit win 7 home transferable that will most likely be upgraded to 10.

14. When do you plan on building/buying the PC?

This week, then GPU early next month


Aside from the few specific parts mentioned above i've been looking at a Silverstone Sugo SG13 for the case but am open to others. PSU is the biggest question mark in the build for me as i have little experiences with building in an ITX case. I think i have a bit of a handle on how this will all come together but wanted to check if i've overlooked anything important.

Going with an sfx PSU like the corsair sf450 wouldn't be a bad idea too. Smaller and lighter for your frequent trips. With an R480 you'll be fine with a 450W PSU. As for price in the au that may be a problem being that I can't find it right now(on my phone). Which is super unfortunate.
