Advice Needed for NAS Adapter

The situation is fairly simple. I have a spare 3TB USB HDD laying around, and would like to use an adapter to connect it into my router. The router does not have a built-in USB port, and therefore a NAS adapter would be needed.

The problem: Most NAS adapters only support up to 2TB per USB port, and the ones that support higher than that have incredibly low reviews, in fact almost all adapters do. Transfer speed isn't important to me, but what is important is I don't want cloud or remote access; only those connected to the LAN.

Advice?
 
First, what router do you have?

Second, maybe some info on the drive too?

But correct me if I'm wrong, most routers that have a USB port are intended to just turn your everyday USB external hard drive into a NAS storage box. Does your router say it has a 2TB limit?
 
No, I have a Linksys E1200 which doesn't have a USB port. The drive is a Seagate GoFlex 3TB.
 
That's what I'm asking. I see some around $20 and others around $100. The closer we get to the $100 mark the more I consider replacing the router.
 
Yup, looks like I'm going for a new router. I've been wanting to get a simultaneous dual band anyway. Thanks for the advice!

Glad I could point you in some sort of direction.

Adapters can be fickle and may as well improve your network while fixing your problem.
