Advice needed, and its simple.

OK, I have NEVER OCed before so here is the deal

Asus a8n-e mobo
amd x2 4800+
4gig ddr
gtx280

I got bfbc2, but my proc bottnecks my game below 30fps, and under 18 in combat areas working DX9 and low settings.

Should I just upgrade cuz I can get like 150 bucks out of my proc or should I try and OC this thing?

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

You can get $150 out of a $60-$70 CPU? If you can sell it for that much you might as well and grab a new board/phenom II.

Check out ebay...

its the last X2 made for the 939 socket, so they rare and in high demand cuz ppl dont wana rebuild a whole new machine. about a year ago, some were selling for $250.

Yes-sell it!!!

If you part out that rig, you can jump up to a i5-750/ 955BE for a minimal cost.

If that is the case, then do it. It is downright stupid for anyone to pay that much when they could get a phenom II and CPU for close enough to that same price.

K, well I will make a fs/ft thread here tonight I guess! lol

I'm not so sure the people who browse the [H] fs/ft forum are the right group of people to try and pawn off an old cpu for 3x what it is worth.

Sell the chip on ebay, you'll get more for it there.

Yeah, I just checked it out... looks like they are going used for $180-$200 with buyitnow at $220.

Hey Ill be happy with $150 for it. haha

I see ones with Buy It Now's for that much, but that doesn't mean they are necessarily selling. I see a couple of regular style auctions with bids that are $100 which is still too much for what it is, but hey if they want to pay you for it, more power to you.

I've got an empty can of green beans that I should list on Ebay.

Yeah, I saw a few with bids at $100, but still had 3 days and one was at $130 with 6 days left in the auction.

I just need to get my new parts ordered first, then I will part out... I cant live without it!! haha

Cept I have never shipped stuff before... only bought it. I dont have the original box for this crap... =/ Do I just go get some boxes and peanuts from walmart or what?

I should of sold it a year ago when they were going for $250... but hey, now I can get a i7 920 for $200... so it all works out.

I almost did that. It's not entirely cheap as all that since you need a new processor, new motherboard and new ram. I really wanted to upgrade my 939 A64 to an X2 but I just couldn't find any that were cheap enough. With an older 939 board and DDR ram, the only upgrade path apart from finding a better 939 cpu is all new parts. I eventually did this, last month, but it took a work bonus and tax refund to get me to do it.
