Advice/comments on dual system

I'm slowly planning out a 3/8 ID water cooling system for my computer: dual opteron and SLI 7800s.
Here is a small pic of my motherboard.
Here is a small pic of my case (inside stuff not mine)
After reading this thread, I've decided on the following parts:

so far I've purchased:
Thermochilll PA120.2 to be mounted outside on 120mm rear exhaust
2x radboxes (my rear fan is actually recessed about 1 inch)
2x Panaflo L1
Dangerden Fillport 3/8
Tygon R3603 3/8 ID 1/2 OD
Zalman fan controller

I plan on buying:
2x DD TDX
Maze4 low profile SLI kit
2x DDC pumps

I chose these blocks for looks (though I don't have a case window :p) and the dual pumps mainly for redundancy. I chose 3/8 because I'll be running a lot of loops, it'd probably be easier to bend 3/8 than 1/2.

I would like my loop to look like this, with one pump in each bottom corner of the motherboard area, t-line on the right pump:
cpu1->gpu1->pump1->cpu2->gpu2->pump2->t-line res->rad->
because of the close proximity of my graphics cards (1 slot inbetween), I'd like to avoid the bend using it this way. My concern is if it's a bad thing for the heat from gpu1 to go straight to cpu2, instead of a cpu1->cpu2->pump2->gpu etc loop. My computer is not overclocked and is on 24/7.
What do you guys think?

I'm also thinking about returning my 120.2 and going for a 120.3, especially considering the small increase in cost (though I'd have to give up like $30-$40 in total cost of returns and shipping for a .3). But if the 120.2 will do fine then I'd like to keep it (the .3 might cause issues with my psu plug and stick up further than my case, but these are minor aesthetic issues)
Is there a significant reason for me to move up?

Any other opinions on my parts choices? Thanks in advance!
 
One clever method I saw was to use Y-splitters. It went something like:
rad->res->pump->y-splitter-|->gpu1 and gpu2-|->reverse-y->rad
 
I'd like to avoid Ys because it's another chance for a leak, but if it helps in making cleaner loops I'm all for it.

Two pumps inline is probably a bad idea (if you mean linking them next to each other), but I plan to put a pump inbetween my four blocks, either both cpus or cpu1+gpu1. I'm not looking for pure performance from 2 pumps, just a little security in case one fails. I think two DDCs versus a D5 is better for the noise / performance ratio I'm looking for anyways.
 
Running them close to each other is probably a better idea. The general objective is to get the pumps to pump directly into the radiator, so that the water that hits your processor is as cool as possible. This is easier to do if the pumps are connected to each other directly, else it necessitates the use of a second radiator.
 
That certainly makes me wonder. Does a pump work even better with more being pushed into it? I was under the impression that it didn't really matter and that the pump would just pump at a constant rate. If I read correctly, dual pumps help keep the water flowing in complicated setups in case there are dead spots (back flow?) or something.

Something else I'm wondering about is if a pump fails, would water still be able to flow through it from a 2nd pump or would it be blocked off completely?
 
yes pushing from one pump to another makes more flow than just one, also if one dies, the water will pass through the other. a lot of people do two pumps for flowrate, as well as redundancy.
