Advice before I buy?

For reasons of overclocking (of course) I am seriously considering watercooling. I would be replacing the cooling currently mentioned in my sig. With my current setup it seems that the temperature of my northbridge is holding be back, so I want to watercool it (I have very limited options with aftermarket northbridge air cooling when I have a Scythe Infinity hanging over my northbridge).

I was hoping some of you could give me some input on my planned loop before I purchase it. All prices are in Canadian dollars!

Danger Den TDX 775 CPU Waterblock $55.47
D-TEK Customs Fuzion CPU Water Block $54.00
Danger Den MAZE4 Chipset Waterblock $42.57
Swiftech MCW30 Chipset Waterblock $28.60
Danger Den MAZE5 GPU Water Block $42.80
Swiftech MCW60-B GPU Waterblock $41.80
HW Labs Black Ice GT Stealth 360 Radiator $73.78 $66.34
Danger Den D-5 12V Pump $83.30
Swiftech MCRES-MICRO HI-FLOW Reservoir $20.70 $19.80
Clearflex 60 Tubing 1/2IN ID 10' $19.50
Arctic Cooling Arctic Fan 12 120MM 1500RPM 56.3CFM 23.5DBA 3 for $31.50 $22.26

Misc parts:
Danger Den Delrin Fillport $18
Polypropylene "T" $3.00
Danger Den Adjustable Hose Clamps 14 for $15.26 $10.85

Subtotal: $346.45 (Canadian dollars, remember) (~$293.03 USD)

Any input? I'm thinking there will be comments on the cpu block at least...

Looks really good, but I want to make one change.

Get a Black Ice Pro 3.120 radiator with 3 Yate Loon fans (3.50 each at jab-tech.com) to both save some cash, and get about the same level of performance, with quite a bit less noise.

That GTS radiator is PERFECT for the fans you chose, but it should be about 6db louder than the BIP (that's alot of noise, incase you don't understand the dBa scale) without performing more than a degree or two better.

Additionally, for ultimate silence, get 6 of the Yate Loon fans, and run the (3 on each side of the radiator, push-pull) at about 5v. I bet you won't be able to hear them at all.

Jab-tech will ship fairly cheaply to Canada (I live in Ontario) and as long as your order from them is under 20$, you won't be charged and import taxes.

If you can't find a good Black ice Pro radiator in Canada, Jab-Tech.com sells the swiftech MCR series radiators, which are a great subistution. NOTE: ASK JABTECH TO DECLARE THE VALUE OF YOUR PACKAGE AS LESS THAN 20$. NAFTA SHOULD BE IN EFFECT FOR THESE RADIATORS, BUT WONT AUTOMATICALLY MEAN YOU WONT GET TAXED. ASK THEM TO DECLARE THE VALUE AS 20$ TO GET THE TAX BREAK THAT YOU RIGHTFULLY DESERVE (even if it is a bit shifty).

Next, Home Depot sells much nice Worm Drive clamps for about 45c a piece (Canadian) which is both cheaper, and a lot more secure, than those DD clamps.

Thanks for the input. I have a question though. How do you figure the Yate Loon fans would be quieter than the Arctic Cooling? The YL are rated at 28dB and the AC are rated at 23.5dB. I understand that 6 @ 5V would be quieter...but.... Or is it the radiator that would be making more noise?

...he he, I was about to comment on the difficulty finding the BIP, but you edited you post :p

Because the AC fan spec is lying.

A faster fan will never work quieter than a slower fan... Unless it's substantially thicker.

Also, the GTS IS louder than the BIP because there are way more fins packed densly together... Think of it as wind blowing through a tree in summer, compared to mid (Canadian) fall...

Generally it'll "rustle" more during the summer because there are more leaves... Same thing works with the radiator.

Yeah, I get that. I just wasn't aware of the difference between the two radiators.

Does anyone else have any input on anything other than the radiator?

might want to go for the D-Tek Fuzion or Swiftech Apogee GT for your cpu water block. Both are top performers in the cpu block category.

After the input here and doing a bit more reading I have changed some choices (and got lower prices!). Anyone have more input on the new choices I have? I am considering getting a different radiator (BIP), I'm just not too interested in ordering from more than one place :(.

why dont you consider get a thermochill pa 120.3 from jab-tech.com.

you might want to get the high flow EK barbs for the D-Tek. You can get those from Petra but they are OOS now.
